Dean Ungert: COMMITMENT-PHOBE

A commitment-phobe is truly into you, but he is overtaken by irrational fear and disabling anxiety at the thought of engagement or marriage. With anyone. Big-blue-eyed Dean Unglert juggled relationships with Kristina Schulman and Danielle Lombard on last year’s Bachelor in Paradise—without ever committing to either woman. Later, after forging a relationship with Lesley Murphy on Bachelor Winter Games, the couple continued seeing one another after the show (including Dean’s giving Lesley a key to his house), but he eventually broke up with her as well. Recently Dean ditched his In-Paradise partner Caelynn Miller-Keyes by abruptly leaving the show, only to return weeks later and convince Caelynn, by then involved with Connor Saeli, to dump Connor and run off with him (she did). Although Dean explained his initial breakup with Caelynn, and all his former breakups as well, as a form of “self-sabotage,” this behavior can also be viewed as a phobia to institutionalized commitment—i.e. marriage. Even though Dean and Caelynn are still together, it is highly unlikely that they will ever see their wedding day.
