Episode 1: First Impressions Prophylactics (Inspired by Don’t Sleep With Him Yet: A Badass Guide to Dating in 10 Empowering Steps)

DON’T try to make an attention-getting first impression with crude, salacious jokes. For example, Katrina’s telling Peter he’s going to fall in love with her “hairless pussy” offers a visual that Peter (and viewers) don’t need or want. The joke is also so not-funny—even when Katrina adds the punchline of “cat,” referring to her actual, as in four-legged, hairless pussycat (versus her bodily anatomy). Similarly, Kylie’s showing up with a 12-pack of condoms, an apparent jokey reference to last season when Hannah Brown found a condom in Peter’s car, is actually more like a joke at his expense—and not even a really funny one either. (Note to women: don’t make boys’ locker room jokes with guys you’re trying to date.) No shocker when both women were rejected at the very first rose ceremony.

DO, however, pack a powerful, positive first impression by amping up chemistry. A surefire way to do this is through body language: learn the art of dynamite, dopamine-inducing eye-contact and flirtatious—but not over-the-top—touch. (There’s actually a proven science to this.) Kelly and Hannah Ann, two clear favorites of Peter’s, both have it nailed, including knowing exactly how long to hold his gaze. Hannah Ann even got the first impression rose—I’m betting she read, no, make that studied, Step 7 of Don’t Sleep With Him Yet, Light His Fire: Why He Can’t Stop Thinking About You.
